Tuition:   $1200 - includes all materials, use of tools, and firings. Students will also receive a kit including reusable molds and more that they will keep after class completes.

Kate MacLeod's dichroic meteorites are simply jaw-dropping. We're not sure that we'd share the secrets behind how they are made, but Kate is and so we are bringing the magic to Helios in 2019.

Class Description

Would you like to learn how to make glass art that looks like it came right out of Harry Potter? Join Kate MacLeod in exploring easy yet effective methods to cast with dichroic glass, dichroic extract, glow power, and frit flakes. Learn how to create your own cast objects using preformed and resuable molds.

Advanced dichroic color theory is examined in detail and explained in a comprehensive format, along with an expanded demonstration of the advanced techniques used to create multi-level rock formations. You will learn the processes required to create a rock along with the highly adaptable concentric circles. Each process is broken down into understandable segments, then combined for masterful effect.

Students will cast multiple "rocks" using a variety of methods and also create stunning concentric circle pendants. This class is designed for intermediate to advanced fusers who have basic glass cutting skills and fusing knowledge.

Kate MacLeod is a much respected glass artist and instructor working from her studio at Bend, Oregon. When she isn't making or teaching her magical dichroic meteorite techniques, she focuses on one-of-a-kind commissioned pieces for specific environments using a multitude of glass forming techniques.
