Thin Skins:
Techniques for Mica, Enamel & Iridized Glass
The dense color of enamels and metallic shine of micas and iridization all exist as the
thinnest of layers on the glass surface - and that's the magic.
This class will teach you a variety of ways of applying enamels and micas - including frisket sifting, air brushing
and more. Then you will learn to a variety of sandblasting methods - including photosensitive resist - to
selectively remove the material (as well as iridization) for some real palette-expanding techniques!
Students will take home a selection of sample tiles to uses as reference pieces for future work and a
small finished bowl.
