Powder Imagery: Advanced Stenciling

Have you ever wanted to create animal portraits, landscapes, and more in powder but you were intimidated because you cannot draw or paint? If so, this class is for you! Our advanced stenciling methods require absolutely no drawing skills to produce beautiful, detailed work.

What we will cover:

  • Translating photographs into "mask sets"
  • Sifting techniques
  • Layered stenciling
  • Adding details with ad hoc micro-stencils and micro-masks
  • Creating depth, dimension, and texture with secondary stencils
  • Mask and stencil edge effects
  • Understanding the relationship between color, transparency, and applied thickness when using glass powder
  • Image types and suitability for techniques
  • Firing considerations for color and texture using powders
  • Effects of layering opaque and transparent colors
  • Finishing options
