In 2011 Helios published a tutorial on their FusedGlass.Org website and introduced the world to the term fused glass puddles, words that have since become part of the global fusing vernacular.

In this class we take the simple puddle – a tall stack of sheet glass that is fused until it spreads to just two layers thick. The glass it cut and nipped into smaller pieces with fantasticly detailed edges. In this class, we raise the simple puddle to extraordinary new heights!

This class explores both new techniques for creating puddles with awesome effects and ways of incorporating puddles into projects.

This class is ideal for:

  • Beginner through advanced glass fusers who like the the thin lines and stripes that puddles make possible.
  • Both jewelry and non-jewerly makers
  • Anyone who is looking for ways to turn small pieces of glass into magnificant components

What we will cover:

Here are many (but not all) of the things you'll learn "Puddle-Palooza":

  • At least six alternative approaches to layering glass for puddles where each produces dramatically different effects
  • How the position of puddle pieces on a shelf results in different visual effects
  • How to achieve special effects with individual puddle pieces
  • Techniques for incorporating puddles into projects

Using a combination of demonstration and plenty of hands-on time, you'll learn new ways of creating with glass that will send your imagination racing! Students will gain experience with all the above techniques while making multiple puddles and dozens of fired puddle pieces for reference or inclusion in future projects. Students will also complete a small Puddle Bead Bowl.

Like many Helios fused glass classes, Puddle-Palooza covers several original techniques not taught at any other studio.
