(Past) Mark Hufford: Beginning Painting on Glass

$485.00

Saturdays - 9:00am - 1:00pm - Feb 24, Mar 2, 9 (Plus bonus Sundays as needed!)

REGISTER HERE

In this “Live from Afar” fused glass enamels course students will learn the fundamentals of fused glass painting, including:

  • mixing enamels to the correct consistency

  • the application method techniques

  • blending enamel colors

  • adding details to your paintings

  • glass cleaning and surface prep

We will be working with Colors for Earth enamels and each student will use and take home their own Colors For Earth sample kit and blending tool! You will also become familiar with the importance of different firing steps when using enamels and other products on glass. Mark will provide you with many tips to be successful incorporating painting processes in fused glass. You will complete three sample tile pieces and a larger final piece incorporating several application techniques.

The studio will also be open exclusively for class members on Sundays to finish intermediate steps between classes!

What is “Live from Afar”?

Mark is unable to travel at the moment and is teaching remotely. He will be LIVE for the entire class (on the big screen and twice the live time than his regular on-line classes!). He’ll be able to watch each student’s workspace from individually set-up cameras (a camera phone or ipad connected through our 5g wifi). He’ll be able to work with you one-on-one giving tips and guidance as you mix colors, prepare your work, and build up layers. A TA will manage all tech support so you don’t have to worry. We will all be together with Mark monitoring and engaging both with the group as a whole and individually.

More about Mark Hufford

Mark is an Artist, Instructor and Graphic Designer whose passion for the arts began at the age of four when he first put pencil to paper. While Mark is an accomplished Artist and instructor in many mediums, he has mastered the use and techniques in fused glass painting with Colors for Earth, Unique Glass Colors, and Hues 2 Fuse fired glass enamels and products. He has authored and published two books and multiple tutorials in fused glass painting, in addition to developing several advanced specialty techniques.

His unique method of teaching is not to simply arm students with technical skills. His focus provides students with an increased level of awareness and a refinement of their observation skills enabling them to create truly realistic work.
