12" x 8" x 1/4"

At the Beginnings show in the fall of 2023 I was intrigued by a piece that was in the show. It turned out, that the piece was made using a technique taught by Morgan Madison, a glass artist out of the Pacific Northwest. Morgan came to Helios Glass Studio and taught his technique shortly after the show (what luck!). I took the class and now it is one of my favorite techniques. I especially love the matte finish. This piece is inspired by a photo I took of rooftops in Granada, Nicaragua. Travel in Central America where the culture is very different from my own was an educational, enlightening, and totally enjoyable journey.

Artist Statement:

Creating art brings me a sense of peace, anchoring me in the creative process.  As I move through the world and observe, I am inspired to wonder: how can I translate these patterns, light, and the endless color palettes of nature into glass? I take pride in creating artwork that encourages individual interpretation, inviting viewers to project their own ideas onto the piece. If it sparks conversation, then that’s a real success.
