Pate de Verre bowl #2

One of only a handful of ancient kilnworking glass techniques, pate de verre vessels stand as a bridge between the ancient past and our living present cultures. They are a testament to the journey of glassworking through millennia.
This piece was created as an exploration of Linda Ether’s pate de verde technique (with a sprinkle of Alicia Lomne’s powder principles). In particular this vessel sought to test the boundaries of glass strength and fragility. It weighs in at less than 75 grams and only 1-2mm thick.
Artist Statement:
From the sheer enjoyment of cutting, breaking, and melting it to the science that defines it, I am captivated by glass. I reflect history, nature, culture, place, and self exploration through the unique properties of glass art.
