Quietude
by Patricia Donica
10 5/8" x 9" x 1/4"
Shh, you may hear rustling. This artwork is made entirely of transparent fused glass. The imagery was formed with glass frit in three sizes -- coarse, medium and fine. Underneath is a single layer of clear glass. The scene was composed using multiple shades of amber and green for the background, with brown, bronze and grey in the tree trunks. The stand was custom-made for this piece.
Artist Statement:
My art begins with what I find around me, interpreting and transforming experiences into glass, from nature and our built world, from imagery and patterns. I use fused glass to bring my ideas to fruition because: I. Love. Glass. I love glass, therefore, I explore! How light transmits or reflects. Colors and combinations. Chemistry and heat interplaying inside the kiln. The possibilities are endless and the learning never stops. My goal for each piece is to engage the viewer and share the beauty of this exciting medium.
